UAD&D: The Calendar of the Twin Worlds.

The most frequently used calendar on the Twin Worlds is the Misty Cross Calendar. It divides up the 378 day year of the Aret solar year into a 364 day "regular year" and the 14 day end of the year period called "Festival" which is a sort of combination Christmas/New Year's/Saturnalia thing. Similarly to the Romans, they call their months by simple names, such as Firstmonth. They use the same days of the week as our normal calendar, and consider a year to have 365 days, with the whole of Festival counted as one "day" on this calendar for some mystic purposes. In the City of Misty Cross, many things that are charged 'monthly' (like rent) are free for Festival.

The LaPlace resonance of the two moons and use of 14 day cycles causes the calendar and moon phases to take two years to repeat, which is better than our calendar. The Even and Odd year number calendar and the moon phases for what are called the "Bright Moon" (or just Moon) and the "Dim Moon" (or Dimoon) are presented below. Unlike our calendar, the first of a month is always a Monday.
